DISC RADIO — WINDOWS CD-ROM BROADCASTER Windows 10/11, 64-bit. No .NET installation needed. 1. Extract the ZIP to a folder and run DiscRadio.exe. 2. Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning: this download is unsigned. Only continue if you trust the download. Your organization may prohibit it. When Windows SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC": a. Click "More info" (below the message text). b. Click "Run anyway" on the screen that appears. This is only needed the first time; Windows remembers afterwards. If an antivirus quarantines DiscRadio.exe, restore it from the antivirus quarantine list and add an exclusion for the program folder. If Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app..." with "Publisher: Unknown" in amber, click "Yes" to continue. 3. Insert an audio CD, select the CD-ROM drive and starting track, then click Start broadcast in the local window that opens in your default browser. 4. Copy the public listening link and send it to listeners. They click Tune in. The code is generated automatically when broadcasting starts — you don't type one. The full link appears in the "Public listening link" box; click Copy link and send it by chat, email, etc. A new code (and new link) is created every time you start a broadcast. 5. Keep the companion, local browser window and internet connection open. Stop broadcast ends the stream. Closing the console exits the companion. The companion reads digital CD audio directly from the drive. It does not capture your microphone, speakers, browser tabs or other computer sounds. Tracks play from the selected track through the end of the CD. It does not save or upload the CD to a recording archive. If the drive cannot be opened, close other CD software. Some drives require running the companion as administrator. Data CDs are not supported. Broadcasting uses PeerJS public signaling and browser WebRTC connections. Listeners connect directly to your computer. There is no relay guarantee: some corporate networks/firewalls will block connections. More listeners use more upload bandwidth. Only broadcast audio you have permission to share. The drive controller listens ONLY on 127.0.0.1, with a random local session cookie and no cross-origin access. Listener links never expose the drive API. This download is unsigned and has not been tested on a physical Windows CD-ROM drive in the development environment. Test with a second device before relying on it for a live broadcast.
